After storm "Ylenia" comes "Zeynep": warning of "danger to body and soul" in Bavaria

A new storm hit Bavaria on Friday. Floods, falling trees and canceled trains: numerous authorities warn of dangers.

Munich – On Thursday (February 17), the storm “Ylenia” broke in waves over the Free State. The result: Schools failed, trees fell, rail traffic was restricted and numerous zoos and zoos remained closed. This Friday (February 18) the next storm will hit Bavaria. “Zeynep” brings with it “hurricane-like gusts”, especially in the evening. The German Weather Service (DWD) warns – sometimes with a red alert. Other agencies are also issuing warnings.

There is a risk of severe weather in northern Bavaria.

“Zeynep” will hit northern Bavaria the worst. For the northern parts of Lower and Upper Franconia, the DWD has issued advance information on storms before “hurricane gusts”. “In the afternoon and evening, the wind continues to increase and briefly reaches gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h when a cold front passes, in places hurricane gusts of 120 km/h from western directions cannot be ruled out,” reports the DWD. Severe weather warnings already apply in the afternoon for two districts: Bad Kissingen and Rhön-Grabfeld. This applies from Friday, 3 p.m. to midnight.

Disturbances are also to be expected again in rail traffic. Deutsche Bahn asks its passengers to find out about their connection on bahn.de or in the DB Navigator before starting their journey. There is also an extended goodwill rule for booked tickets from February 17th to 20th for everyone who wants to postpone their trip because of the storm.

Bavarian state forests urgently warn against entering the forests

The company Bayerische Staatsforsten warns against entering the forests because of a possible danger to life and limb during and after the current winter storms. Since many trees are suffering from the consequential damage of recent years of drought, the company says there is an increased risk of branches breaking or trees falling. The danger does not end when the wind dies down. “Cracked trees can fall over or branches can fall even days after the storm,” said a spokesman for the state forests in Regensburg on Friday. “We ask the population to exercise caution and initially refrain from walking in the forest.”

The previous storm “Ylenia” also caused trees to fall in Bavaria on Thursday. So far, no major storm throws have occurred in the state forests, said the state forests spokesman. “Our specialists will get an overview of the state forests early next week.” (tkip with dpa) *Merkur.de/bayern is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA

They say that in raising children the days are long and the years are short, and of course they are right. But perhaps it is especially in these days of school graduations and changes of stage, when we realize it the most.
