After the surprising resignation of Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo from the Ministry of Economy , the main challenge for the federal dependency is found in the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC), particularly due to the controversies that are in process.
Clouthier Carrillo resigned from Economy almost a month after the ruling of the panel of experts on the interpretation of the rules of origin -initiated by Mexico and Canada against the United States- was known, and three days after an extension was announced in the consultations for the energy policy of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, this procedure initiated by the United States and Canada.
“The international situation is very complicated, for us to make much more noise with our trading partners -the US and Canada-, regarding such a big difference with their energy companies. This is the great slope left by Tatiana Clouthier”, considered José Antonio Salazar Andreu, an academic from the Universidad Panamericana.
Other pending, also related to the commercial part, he added, has to do with Mexico’s free trade agreements with the European Union and the United Kingdom.

“Since the signing of the T-MEC there was a disconnection between economic policy and the government,” he lamented.
This separation has to do with an ideological issue, in which the president’s philosophy is to give more prominence to the government, taking it away from private initiative.
“If the government is more neoliberal, as in past administrations, there would have been greater coordination between the government and the Ministry of Economy.” The former secretary Clouthier is from a more “pro-company” “cut”, Franco considers.
