Thirty-six years after the first 100% electric Master prototype and ten years after marketing the 100% electric Kangoo ZE, of which more than 70,000 units were sold, Renault has established itself as a world pioneer and European leader in electric vehicles. Thus, Renault begins the renewal of its range of 100% electric commercial vehicles with the new electric Kangoo Van E-Tech in order to offer more flexibility and freedom than ever, without compromise .
This electric inherits all the qualities of the thermal version that has been rewarded with the prestigious title of ‘International Van Of The Year 2022’. The battery, placed under the vehicle floor, does not affect the useful volume of the cargo area, which offers up to 3.9 m3 of volume in the L1 version (4.9 m3 in the long version, available later), 600 kg of load useful (800 kg in long version2) and 1,500 kg of towing capacity. The same goes for the ingenious and unique ‘Open Sesame for Renault’, which offers the best side opening on the market at 1.45 m, the innovative ‘Easy Inside Rack’ folding interior roof rack, the three front seats with folding central backrest that form a mobile office and almost 60 liters of cabin storage, including the ‘Renault Easy Life’ drawer.
Thanks to its new lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 45 kWh made up of 8 independent and easily repairable modules, the new electric Kangoo Van E-Tech offers a range of up to 300 km in the WLTP cycle . This autonomy allows users to plan their professional trips serenely and at the best cost of ownership and use.
Present in the versions with a 22 kW charger, the battery has a liquid cooling system and an electrical resistance that allows it to be used in the correct temperature range, thus maintaining its autonomy and reducing charging time. The battery warranty is 8 years or 160,000 km. In this interval, they are replaced free of charge if their capacity degrades below 70% of their nominal value (SoH).
The new electric Kangoo Van E-Tech is equipped with a 90 kW motor and 245 Nm of torque immediately available for smooth and serene driving in all circumstances. An Eco mode, which limits the vehicle’s power and top speed, optimizes range and is preferably used with a lightly loaded vehicle.
The driver can choose between three regenerative braking modes. There is Sailing (display indicator B1), a limited regenerative mode, adapted to motorway and expressway driving. The Drive (B2), a regenerative mode by default, for multipurpose use, with a sensation similar to that of a vehicle with a thermal engine when you lift your foot off the accelerator. And the Brake (B3), a maximum regenerative mode, for use in traffic jams and in the mountains.
To guarantee the best autonomy at any time of the year, the electric Kangoo E-Tech Van has regulated air conditioning with a heat pump that allows it to produce heat in winter and cold in summer. The heating supplies the passenger compartment with the calories recovered from the outside, while the air conditioning extracts the calories from the passenger compartment to send them outside the vehicle. The heat pump provides optimal performance when the temperature is between -15 and +15°C. In addition to providing first-rate thermal comfort, it preserves autonomy. This functionality allows preserving up to 85 km of additional WLTP autonomy.
