A study carried out by the Porter Novelli agency with more than 10,000 European consumers reveals differences in the use of social networks by men and women . The results show that women are more active on social media than men. Specifically in Spain, 78% of users access this type of services at least once a week, compared to 70% of men. The difference is greater if one analyzes who accesses it daily , since in Spain it is 57% of women and only 38% of men . On the other hand, women are more likely to use social networks to contact friends, co-workers, relatives and acquaintances, while 86% of men usually say where they are (geolocation services).
In addition, the study shows that 40% of Spanish men are Twitter users (the highest percentage in Europe), but that among women the percentage drops to 27%. On the contrary, women are more connected to Facebook and star in 71% of daily "fan" activity. In addition, they have 8% more friends on average on this social network.
