Art on the Square is a nationally ranked art fair in Belleville, Illinois. More than 100 artists sell and display their creations during the event. There is also food, live music and a special art area just for kids.

Dates, location and admission:

Art on the Square takes place every year in May on the weekend after Mother’s Day. In 2015, the festival is from Friday May 15 to Sunday May 17. The art fair is open on Fridays from 5 pm to 10 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 8 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm Admission is free.

Art on the Square is a short drive from downtown St. Louis in Belleville, Illinois. The fair is set in the main plaza in Belleville at the intersection of Highway 159 and Main Street. A shuttle bus will also run every 15 minutes from the Belleville Metrolink station. A one-way ticket on Metrolink costs $ 2.25.

Art on the Square is a juried art show with over 100 artists exhibiting their works in paint, clay, glass, sculpture, jewelry, and a variety of other mediums. Art of the Square has earned a national reputation and was selected as the second best fine art show in the country in 2014 by the Art Fair Source Book. Visitors will have the opportunity to view and purchase hundreds of works of art during the three-day festival.

Art may be the focus, but it’s not the only thing to see at Art on the Square. Popular local musicians such as Anita Rosamond, Power Play and Soul Shake will perform on the main stage on Saturday and Sunday. There is also live music every day at Wine Court. And don’t forget the food! A dozen restaurants in the area will set up booths in the Plaza, selling everything from gyros to pasta to Mexican food.

Meanwhile, the kids have their own special area at Art on the Square. The Children’s Art Garden will be open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children can help paint a large mural, decorate wooden fans, make their own musical instruments, try their hands on papier-mâché and various other projects.
