The engineers of the most powerful version of the Q7 range must comply with regulations, yes, but their work goes further. Its commitment to sportiness, power and sophistication means not giving up anything.
The new Audi SQ7 happens to be the most performing of its family and also the most expensive. Its direct and distant family rival, the Volkswagen Touareg R-Line, is far behind economically. The latter mounts a 421 hp V8 diesel engine, but its starting price is 91,750 euros. The model that we are dealing with today can be found in dealerships from 114,050 euros and that without adding the extras, which would quickly lengthen the purchase receipt.
There is a substantial detail to highlight in this Audi SQ7 and that is in its propulsion. The eight-cylinder V-block is assisted by a somewhat more elaborate supercharging system than in other models. The two usual turbos are joined by an electrically operated compressor , powered by 48 volts. This electric motor does not replace the conventional 12-volt motor, which takes care of comfort elements such as air conditioning or the vehicle’s digital systems. Its function is to improve the performance of the engine at critical moments , such as the demand for greater thrust in the lower zone of the rev counter.
The result of this new powertrain scheme is 435 CV of power and an astonishing 900 Nm of maximum torque . This makes it a tremendously fast and agile SUV thanks, also, to the presence of a torque converter-type automatic transmission and the quattro all-wheel drive . In addition, the SQ7 comes with adjustable air suspension so that the height from the ground can be modified.
