In the 2015 Austin Chronicle Readers Poll, Hopdoddy took top honors. Hopdoddy also won best burger awards in the survey in 2013 and 2014. The restaurant uses hormone-free ground beef on the spot to make incredibly juicy burgers. The fries and truffle shakes are also top-notch. The Austin American-Statesman Matthew Odam named the Odd Duck Burger the best in Austin. The precise ingredients in the burger change with the seasons and the chef’s whims, but it’s always a good burger. It is often served with green chili mayonnaise and topped with arugula. You can expect to pay a little more for this handcrafted creation, but most agree that it is worth every penny.

In November 2015, Austin Way magazine featured Goodall’s Black Angus Beef Burger in its “4 Austin Burgers You Can’t Resist” roundup. It comes in a puffed challah bun with bacon jelly. This is a great date spot if one of you wants a burger and the other wants high-end seafood. Clams and scallops routinely earn rave reviews. The restaurant is located inside the charming Hotel Ella, a renovated turn-of-the-century mansion.

You might have low expectations of a cheeseburger served at a 6th Street dive bar, but Casino El Camino has won burger awards for more than a decade. Most recently, Austin Monthly magazine gave top honors to the bar’s buffalo burger with blue cheese in September 2015.

Come for the beer, stay for the burger. Culturemap Austin awarded the 2015 Cheeseburger Award to Black Star Burger. Served with cheddar cheese and mustard beer, the burger is actually a brisket patty, so it’s like having a barbecue and burger all rolled into one. Also, since it is a cooperative, and all employees own a stake in the business, Black Star has a no-tip policy.
