Last night, after the end of the event for the Summer Game Fest 2021, the Day of the Devs took place, a shorter presentation in which some indie studios took the opportunity to show a preview of their next works. Among them was Thomas Happ to offer a few new details on Axiom Verge 2.
The sequel to this metroidvania will star Indra, a technological genius who ends up on an alternate version of Earth in Antarctica . That is why the scenarios will be outdoors and will not be as strange as those of the alien planet of the first Axiom Verge.
The map will not be the only big change that we will witness, since the gameplay will also be different. On this occasion, the firearm of the original title has been left aside and we will only have more basic weapons at our disposal, such as a pickaxe or a boomerang . However, that does not mean that there are other skills that we can use at certain times.
Thanks to Indra’s intelligence, he will be able to hack enemies and alter their behavior , giving him an advantage during the most intense moments of the action. Even so, so that no one is too choking on the adventure, when starting it will be possible to select several levels of difficulty and modify other settings such as the amount of damage that we will receive or inflict on the enemies.
What’s more, Thomas Happ has warned that all the final bosses that will appear are optional. Killing them will serve to obtain very succulent rewards, although it will be possible to complete the game without having defeated a single one , so that no one ends up frustrated if one becomes a tough nut to crack.
To top off the game, although we are still waiting for the release date of Axiom Verge 2 to be revealed sometime in the third quarter of 2021, it has been confirmed that the versions of Nintendo Switch and PC will also be added those of PS4 and PS5 , in case anyone prefers to get hold of this second part on Sony consoles.
