Having moved to a new moment last year, in late July, Baltimore’s popular Gay Pride celebration runs over two days – this year’s dates are July 23-24, 2016, but there are events related events that take place all week before the big weekend, and there’s also an LGBT baseball outing to watch the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yard. Each of the main days of Pride weekend sees a different event in a different part of Baltimore, and there are also a handful of related events and parties leading up to the weekend, plus plenty of activities in Baltimore’s many gay bars. .
Before the big weekend, a handful of fun Pride events include a Twilight Party on the terrace at Gertrude Restaurant at the Baltimore Museum of Art; a high-heeled race, pride king and queen pageant, and more.
The main events during Pride weekend are, on Saturday, July 23, the Baltimore Gay Pride Parade , which takes place at 2 p.m., starting in the beautiful and historic neighborhood of Mount Vernon, along from North Charles Street.
Also on Saturday, and after the parade, Mount Vernon is the site of a fabulous party neighborhood of Baltimore Gay Pride, which takes place in the Charles and Eager streets. Afterward, the various cool bars (like Grand Central / Sappho’s) in this area are packed with Pride contestants.
On Sunday, the Baltimore Pride Festival takes place at Druid Hill Park, on the northwest side of Baltimore. It takes place from 10 am to 6 pm and includes a great mix of artists and other entertainment.
