A young woman writes on social media why she threw her boyfriend out of her apartment: He did not treat her cat lovingly and even insulted her. An exaggerated reaction? Many users showed understanding for their decision.
The 24-year-old woman had had the cat for a long time when she finally moved in with her boyfriend, according to her post on Reddit. He has never been particularly fond of her pet and has often made it clear that he would rather get rid of the animal. Once he is said to have even asked if she really wanted to keep the cat. “I told him that under no circumstances would I give it away,” said the young cat owner. However, she didn’t take the question really seriously – until he moved in with her and she realized how much he actually hates her cat.

She overheard her friend say to the cat, in a particularly mean tone, “you’re so damn worthless”. In doing so, he crossed a clear line for the cat owner: she freaked out and threw her partner out of the apartment. But a short time later she doubted her harsh reaction. The couple then reconciled and got back together. The friend explained his behavior by saying that the pet made him feel less loved. Nevertheless, the young woman did not seem to let go of her partner’s behavior towards the cat and after the incident she asked other users on the Reddit online platform for advice.
There she received clear feedback. Most thought their reaction was appropriate and said they would have acted similarly. This opened the young woman’s eyes: Only a short time later, the 24-year-old cat owner announced on her account that she had finally separated from her boyfriend.
