Brawl in the networks: Will the Spanish team kneel before the game against Sweden?

27

A few hours after the debut of the Spanish team in the Eurocup, one of the great doubts lies in whether the players led by Luis Enrique will kneel before the start of the game. It is a gesture in support of the Black Lives Matters movement that some national teams are making in this European Championship. So far, Wales , Switzerland , Belgium and England have knelt, so there have been many Spanish fans who have asked the National Team not to do so under the hashtag #SiSeArrodillanApagaLaTele .

Despite the fact that so far the Spanish team has never knelt, some of their Luis Enrique players have been doing so throughout the season . This is the case of players who compete in the Premier League, a competition in which this gesture has been made in all matches. Therefore, if Spain ends up doing it, it would not be the first time for some players like Thiago Alcántara , De Gea or Laporte , among others.

Up to ten teams have chosen not to kneel in these first days of Euro. Some of them despite the fact that their rival did, as was the case with the Croats in the game against England . The Spanish team faces Sweden, a national team in which Alexander Isak and Robin Quaison actively lead the country’s fight against racism, although it is unknown if the Swedish team will kneel at the La Cartuja Stadium .

With the hashtags #SiSeArrodillanApagaLaTele and # EspañaNoSeArrodilla , many fans are asking the Spanish team not to join the trend of kneeling as a symbol of the Black Lives Matters movement, a gesture popularized by the American football player Colin Kaepernick .
