An old budget hotel icon just completed a giant makeover. You may know that Motel 6 is a budget hotel chain, but have you checked out its new look?
You may already know that Motel 6 offers the lowest prices of any national hotel chain, but you may not be aware of the big changes that have taken place in recent years.
Motel 6 in a nutshell
When the lights were turned on at the first Motel 6 in 1962, in Santa Barbara, California, the brand name announced that the cost of a room at the time was only $ 6. Today, Motel 6 is a budget leader with more than 1,300 franchised and company-owned locations in the United States and Canada. Room prices, advertised as the lowest in the country, are often still under $ 50 a night.
What’s new at Motel 6
The company spent several years and more than $ 300 million renovating properties and bringing a whole new look to its rooms, and today more than 75 percent of Motel 6 properties have renovated rooms with a vibrant color scheme, mattresses with a single layer of padding on platform beds, 32 one-inch flat screen TVs, granite countertops in bathrooms, storage cubicles and more.
Families will also appreciate the “kids free” policy and that pets are always welcome.
Please note that Motel 6 has not increased rates after renovating its properties.

Study 6
Since 1999, Motel 6 has operated Studio 6, an extended-stay hotel chain that offers larger rooms and more amenities than a standard Motel 6, along with a full kitchen (with full-size refrigerator, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, etc. electric plate and a set of crockery and utensils). Like Motel 6, Studio 6 is pet friendly. Studio 6 hotels are located in 15 US states and Canada.
