In the trials carried out it was not taken into account whether the participants consumed alcohol, and the analyzes carried out have not yielded any evidence that alcohol reduces the formation of antibodies. This is explained by Richard Watkins, an infectious disease physician and professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, but there are conflicting opinions in the scientific community.For her part, Sheena Cruickshank, professor and immunologist at the University of Manchester, explained to the ‘HuffPost’ that when a person drinks alcohol before or after receiving the coronavirus vaccine, their immune system does not work 100%. Therefore, the final objective of vaccination could be harmed. The Spanish Immunology Society explains that the consumption of drugs and alcohol that have been distilled has an immunosuppressive effect. The mechanisms are very similar to those that occur in a highly stressful situation. What conclusion can we draw from all this? Alcohol is a substance that when consumed in excess negatively affects the immune system. But so far there is no evidence that moderate consumption reduces the effectiveness of the vaccine.
