Citroën electrifies its range of commercials

Citroën is, on the one hand, the sixth manufacturer in Europe with the largest market share in the commercial vehicle segment (9.2%), and, on the other hand, one of the brands that gives the most importance to the idea of electrification. For this reason, the French firm plans to launch, between now and 2025, a major electrification offensive with the main objective of having 100% of the range electrified. This offensive will be an important axis of growth for Citroën and will involve commercial vehicles in both their van and passenger versions.

The first step that Citroën will take in this direction is the creation of the 100% electric version of the Jumpy van next year 2020, which will take advantage of all the innovation of the PSA Group in terms of electrification. Later, in 2021, a 100% electric version of the new Berlingo Van will be added to this strategy. Both models are defined as vehicles inspired by the use that people give them, proposing different adaptations to respond to the needs of each professional.

The first model of the electric offensive

The Citroën Jumpy , launched in 2016 and of which more than 135,000 units have already been sold, has recently updated its range to further adapt to the expectations of professionals. Combining robustness and high load capacity, the model proposes a balanced grass, available in five versions, three of them new (Worker, Driver and CityVan), which are aimed at three different types of use: construction sites (with raised suspension, protection under engine, higher payload and Grip Control), long journeys (with driving aids in terms of comfort and safety), and urban use (with more agility and maneuverability). All these versions make the Jumpy the essential partner for a professional clientele with different needs.

Thus, this electrification, which will affect both commercial vehicles as well as their versions for passenger transport, will offer the customer a benchmark level of comfort , a contained cost of use, and freedom of access to urban centers. cities, ability to ensure last-kilometer deliveries and respond to the development of e-commerce activities.

Mobility solutions

Citroën will complete its range in 2020 with a 100% electric offer for its compact van , with the aim of offering concrete solutions in urban areas, but also in rural areas, thanks to more than sufficient autonomy. Without compromising performance, this electric version of the Jumpy will be aimed at those seeking greater peace of mind behind the wheel, allowing professionals to take care of the image of their business, in addition to taking care of the environment.

In this sense, Laurence Hansen, Director of Product and Strategy at Citroën , points out that “Citroën is a century-old brand that takes advantage of its almost 90 years of experience in the field of commercial vehicles.” “A leading player in the energy transition and inspired by professional uses, Citroën launches a major offensive focused on the electrification of its range of commercial vehicles by which each compact van model will have, by 2021, an electrified version that benefits of the best savoir-faire of the PSA Group, in complement of efficient thermal options ”, adds Hansen.
