As the RKI further reported, citing data from the health authorities, the number of new infections reported within 24 hours was 156,799. 78,428 new infections were reported the day before, compared to 122,111 a week ago. The total number of registered cases of infection in Germany since the beginning of the corona pandemic has increased to 16,026,216.
According to the RKI, 324 further deaths related to the corona virus were registered within 24 hours. The total number of corona deaths recorded in Germany rose to 124,450.
The case numbers
Experts assume a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data. One reason is the limited capacity of health authorities, for example, and contacts are often only tracked to a limited extent. In addition, according to the ALM laboratory association, there is now a larger number of people whose infection is no longer confirmed by a PCR test – these infections are therefore not included in the official statistics.
According to the current RKI information, the hospitalization incidence on Monday was 6.06 nationwide. A week earlier it had been 6.08. This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants are hospitalized within seven days because of a corona infection. (skr/AFP)
