The case numbers of the RKI can differ from those of the individual federal states. One reason for this is the longer transmission routes between the RKI and the responsible health authorities. The RKI’s Covid-19 dashboard can also be adjusted during the day.
Corona case numbers for Germany: RKI reports less active cases
In addition to the incidence, new infections and deaths, the RKI also indicates the number of people recovered on its Covid-19 dashboard. This increased by approximately 59,300 to 5,992,800. The number of active corona cases fell by around 14,800 to 821,100.
RKI expects little test and reporting activity in the next few days
“During the holidays and at the turn of the year, it should be noted when interpreting the number of cases that less testing and reporting activity can be expected, so that the data shown in the dashboard and management report could only provide an incomplete picture of the epidemiological situation in Germany.”
On Wednesday (December 22nd, 2021) the RKI gave the seven-day incidence of hospitalizations as 2.17. This number describes the “number of hospitalized Covid-19 cases transmitted to the RKI per 100,000 inhabitants within a 7-day period,” explains the RKI. With the data of the past 14 days, the RKI indicates a delay in transmission, which means that “the values can be underestimated to a certain extent”. (jey)
