Compared to the past few days, the RKI reports fewer new corona infections on Sunday – but the incidence value is at a record level. The number of cases at a glance.
Frankfurt/Berlin – The RKI has announced the current number of corona cases. According to the institute’s data on Sunday night, the health authorities in Germany reported 85,440 new infections with Sars-CoV-2 to the Robert Koch Institute. This means that the value is significantly lower than that of the last few days. According to the RKI, for example, on Thursday (01/20/2022) there were 133,536, on Friday (01/21/2022) 140,160, and finally on Saturday 135,462.
According to the RKI, the incidence value on Sunday morning (January 23, 2022) was 806.8 – another new high. According to statistics, 74 new deaths related to corona infections were recorded.

Information on the number of cases
The case numbers of the RKI may differ from those of the individual federal states. One reason for this is the longer transmission paths between the RKI and the responsible health authorities. The RKI’s Covid-19 dashboard can also be adjusted during the day.
