Corona incidence is rising slightly again after falling

The RKI registered 74,352 new corona infections. The incidence is currently 442.1 and has thus risen again.

Berlin – The seven-day incidence has now risen again after a slight decrease on the three days before. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Friday morning at 442.1.

For comparison: the previous day the value was 439.2, a week ago it was 438.2 (previous month: 169.9). The health authorities in Germany reported 74 352 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4 a.m. Exactly one week ago there were 76 414 infections.

When evaluating the infection rate, it should be borne in mind that experts are currently assuming a noticeable underreporting. Health authorities and clinics can no longer keep up with reporting cases, at least in individual regions.

Difficulty assessing the situation

The RKI is also finding it difficult to assess the situation. The slowed rise in the seven-day incidence could “on the one hand be a first indication of a slightly weakening dynamic in the transmission process due to the significantly intensified measures to reduce contact,” says the RKI weekly report on Thursday evening. However, the development could “regionally also be due to the increasingly overloaded capacities in the public health service and the exhausted laboratory capacities”.

390 deaths within 24 hours

According to the new information, 390 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 357 deaths. The RKI has counted 6,051,560 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Thursday as 5.47 (Wednesday: with 5.61). The value plays an essential role in assessing the occurrence of the infection. If limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded in the federal states, stricter measures to combat the pandemic can be imposed there.

The RKI stated the number of people recovered on Friday as 5,023,200. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 102,568. dpa
