Corona test obligation at the hairdresser overturned – These federal states loosen up for vaccinated people

If you want to go to the hairdresser, you have to do a corona test beforehand. This is what the federal emergency brake prescribes. But three federal states have overturned the rule for vaccinated people.

Frankfurt – “Anyone who is vaccinated can go to the shop or the hairdresser without further testing.” With these words, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) raised hopes at “Bild am Sonntag” at the beginning of April. Then the federal emergency brake came and the hopes seemed, for the time being, there. Visits to the hairdresser only with a corona test, negative, of course.

Now, at the vaccination summit of the federal and state governments on Monday (April 26th, 2021), there was extensive debate about whether there should be easing for fully vaccinated people. In other words, those who have been vaccinated or recovered should have access to shops and services such as hairdressers. Only the mask requirement and the distance would then still be valid for vaccinated and convalescent people. The obligation to test would be omitted.

There is no corona test requirement when visiting the hairdresser for vaccinated people

However, because nothing countable has yet been decided at the vaccination summit, some federal states are taking action. Where the corona test is now no longer required for hairdressers:

Bavaria: Markus Söder (CSU), Bavaria’s Prime Minister, is apparently in a hurry. Since Wednesday (April 28th, 2021), fully vaccinated people in the Free State do not have to show a negative corona test when visiting the hairdresser. Vaccinated people are therefore equated with those who tested negative. That was decided by the cabinet in Munich. Anyone who “has almost zero risk must be put back into their central basic rights”, stressed Söder and added with regard to similar easing for those who have recovered: “There is still no clear understanding among those who have recovered.”

Hessen: Hesse’s Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) seems to be in an even more urgent hurry than Söder. He already stated on Tuesday (April 27th, 2021) that the Corona regulations in Hesse had already been adjusted accordingly. As reported by the dpa, people no longer need a negative corona test to go to the hairdresser from 14 days after the full vaccination.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: From May 1st, fully vaccinated people no longer have to show a negative test here at the hairdresser, as Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) announced on the Monday after the federal-state vaccination summit. But this relaxation does not only apply to the hairdresser, but also to other areas such as visiting the outside areas of the zoos.

Will the compulsory test for vaccinated people at the hairdresser be lifted nationwide?

It remains to be seen whether other federal states will follow suit. The incidence and the number of corona cases are currently falling in Germany, a decision on a nationwide relaxation of the obligation to test for hairdressing visits should be made in the next few weeks. In Frankfurt, there are cancellations at the hairdresser due to the mandatory test. That could soon change with the easing. (nc with dpa)
