Germany’s vaccination campaign in the fight against the corona pandemic is picking up speed. In the coming week, 20 million vaccine doses should be ready.

The vaccination campaign has gained momentum and another large vaccine shipment is on the way. According to current information, the delivery next week (KW50) could approach 20 million cans, according to ntv.de, this can be heard from CDU circles.
Eight million doses of the Biontech vaccine and 10.6 million booster doses of the Moderna vaccine are to be distributed to doctors and vaccination centers. The Johnson vaccine should be distributed as needed, and it should only be a few tens of thousands of doses.
Corona vaccination: Children are to be vaccinated with Biontech vaccine for the first time
The Biontech vaccine for children is to be issued for the first time in unconfirmed quantities. Around 2.4 million doses of the children’s vaccine should arrive at the federal government in the near future. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) gave the green light to approve Biontech / Pfizer’s corona vaccine for children aged five and over in November. The Biontech vaccine is the first corona vaccine approved in the European Union for children under five years of age.
In the past few weeks, the then CDU-led Ministry of Health has often faced criticism from doctors and the population because the vaccination campaign has not progressed to the extent that it would have been possible.
Germany: More corona vaccinations per week than in any other country in the world
However, the ministry reacted to the criticism and now, in absolute numbers, more doses on a 7-day average are inoculated in Germany than in any other country in the world. This also applies to far more populous countries such as India, Brazil, the USA or China and shows how much the vaccination campaign has gained momentum.
An additional delivery of another three million cans had been negotiated with EU countries, it was about Biontech cans, which the countries concerned “do not need in full”.
Corona: Medical Association currently criticizes too few vaccination doses: “(…) less than half”
The medical association continues to criticize that not enough vaccine is delivered to meet the target of 30 million vaccinations by Christmas. Although the goal is no longer completely unrealistic due to the success of the vaccination campaign, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Andreas Gassen, complained about distribution gaps in the current week 49.
According to him, contract and company doctors as well as the public health service have already ordered around 6.5 million doses of the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine, subject to maximum order quantities. “But only 2.9 million cans are delivered, which is less than half,” said Gassen.
