Corona vaccination despite the ban? Boy takes action against his father's will

In the Netherlands, a boy goes to court to receive a corona vaccination against his father’s wishes. The decision has now been made.

Groningen / Kassel – A boy from the Netherlands would like to be vaccinated against Corona *, but his father is against it. The twelve-year-old wants to protect his grandmother with the vaccination. To enforce his wish, the boy goes to court. The verdict on the case was published on Thursday (23.09.2021).

Similar to Germany, children and adolescents from twelve to 17 years of age can be vaccinated against the coronavirus in the Netherlands. To do this, however, they need the consent of both parents or legal guardians.

Boy from the Netherlands wants corona vaccination – also to protect his grandma

In the case of the twelve-year-old, the parents are divorced. While the boy’s mother agreed to a vaccination, the father refused it. In the court files it was noted that the father warned of possible, long-term health risks from the corona vaccines, as these were “still in the test phase”.

Despite the father’s concerns, the judge in charge, Bart Tromp, decided that the boy could be vaccinated. The interests of the twelve-year-old are more important than the objection of the father’s lawyers. “The boy wanted to be vaccinated because he did not want to be infected and wanted to limit the risk of infecting others,” said the court documents. The boy’s fear relates particularly to his grandmother, who has cancer: “He is afraid that he could infect his grandmother and is convinced that this would be life-threatening.”

Corona in the Netherlands: Relaxation of the Corona rules and Covid Pass

The issue of vaccination skepticism in the Netherlands is growing. This also encourages the discussions about the Covid Pass. Protests are expected at the weekend. The changed corona rules in the Netherlands do not hide the conflicts. Among other things, the minimum distance of 1.5 meters is no longer required.

However, the Covid Pass would mean that 3G (tested, recovered or vaccinated) would become a requirement for access to restaurants and bars in the Netherlands. Many people feel bad about this. (jey / afp) * Hna.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
