The new Seat León was presented on January 28 as what it is: one of the most anticipated models of this 2020.
Its staging, before hundreds of journalists and via streaming for the rest of the globe, is worthy of the best-selling vehicle in Spain. The wait has been long but the groups have their hierarchies, before the Volkswagen Golf had to be presented and later we will know the new Audi A3. They all share the same MQB Evo platform , an architecture that allows a lot of room to play with design, dimensions and that allows a range of very different engines. The Seat León 2020 will arrive in our country in April but its official presentation will take place at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be held the first week of March.
This is a debut for a radically different model . After years in the market, Seat is in a stage of maturity and recognition that is transferred to its design. The new León is more elegant and minimalist than ever, but it does not lose its youthful essence, with a dynamic and sharp image. Its proportions have jumped to the center of segment C, both due to the increase in dimensions and its new shapes. Now it measures 4.37 meters long (8 centimeters more) by 1.80 wide (almost 2 centimeters less) and 1.45 meters high (it loses 3 millimeters). The Sportstourer family variant, previously called ST, stretches to 4.64 meters long and its boot grows to 617 liters , 30 liters more than in the previous model.
The new Seat León is, therefore, a larger vehicle and its silhouette supports that feeling. The bonnet is longer and flatter than the previous model, visually stretching its figure and improving its drag coefficient by 8% . Of course, where we will notice these extra centimeters is inside the cabin. The wheelbase becomes 2.68 meters (5 centimeters more) , an aspect that directly affects the space of the rear seats. It will be, therefore, more comfortable for passengers but the new Leon hides many other improvements.
