Dark Souls: the PS3, PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions head-to-head in a split-screen comparison

We will not deny it, despite being one of the key releases of Switch , the remastered edition of ‘Dark Souls’ for the Nintendo console will arrive much later than expected. Enough that Bandai Namco announced a trilogy, but not so much that it overlooked its glorious Amiibo.

And despite being a safe bet, taking into account that the original came out in 2011, one question still remained in the air: How would it look compared to the rest of the versions? Luckily, the first session of your network test and the Bit Analyst channel clears up the question.

Through a split-screen comparison we can reach the first conclusions of the debut of the From Software saga on Switch by comparing the remastering of ‘Dark Souls’ with the PS3 and PS4 versions.

The first thing we get clear is that there is a palpable improvement in terms of sharpness. Details and textures are much better appreciated. After all, it is a remastered version in which -as we have already seen- changes have been made from the game code itself .

However, the Switch’s hardware cannot compete on equal terms with that of a PS4, something that is noticeable in the resolution mainly . but also in the effects of the game itself.

In fact, the bonfires and the light that any fire projects on the screen are much closer to the version we saw on PS3 than to the remaster. At least in this test version .

All in all, a technical leap can be effortlessly appreciated , although not particularly loose, compared to what was seen in the past generation. Although there are quite a few elements that are worth considering that are not reflected, such as the FPS rate.

For now, the network test will take place this weekend from 7:00 p.m. (Spanish time) in four-hour sessions. Being a small appetizer of what is to come: the final version of ‘Dark Souls Remastered’ will arrive on Switch on October 19 along with the Solaire de Astora Amiibo.
