Dave Bautista as Hemingway? The actor is clear

Dave Bautista seems to be in the best moment of his career or at least the most creative and encouraged to play practically any role. His beginnings in the film industry got exactly the same beginnings as most former WWE wrestlers: Being a thug “smashes heroes”. Like Dwayne Johnson, Bautista began to stand out as the villain Hinx in James Bond’s Specter or in Riddick as the bully Diaz. Later would come important roles as Drax in the two films of Guardians of the Galaxy and his latest film The Army of the Dead. Already established as a versatile action actor to be reckoned with (he will appear in the sequel to Daggers in the Back) and who a few weeks ago declared that he wanted to be the next Bane, he has now come out with the idea of playing the writer of The Old Man and the sea, but can we imagine Dave Bautista as Hemingway? The action hero has it clear: It seems strange that Bautista’s most desired role is a biopic without action. But to the replicant of Blade Runner the figure of the writer seems very interesting: “I have thought a lot about inspiring stories that I could interpret and the one who seems to keep coming to me is Ernest Hemingway” he affirmed and later added with some confidence, “if I could interpret any character, I still think it would be him. I think I could do it justice. I think it’s very interesting, all about the way he lived and also the way he died. He is very intriguing, his ideas intrigue me ”. Let us remember that in the last years of his life, the writer was the victim of great emotional instability that led him to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head.As surprising as it may seem to imagine Dave Bautista as Hemingway, the performer is not always looking for action in his projects. In a recent interview he recounted how the role in Blade Runner 2049 changed his career. It was the first film in which he was able to show certain dramatic acting skills, “That was the opportunity I was looking for because they don’t offer me many roles like that (…) It was difficult for people to see beyond my physique (…) a better actor. I want to do some drama, ”he finally declared. The reality is that if he continues in this progression, surely Bautista has some opportunity to get a role in which to prove that he is more than an actor destined for action movies.
