That an athlete wearing red can affect the jury's decision in competitive sports , according to a study conducted not long ago by scientists at the University of Münster (Germany). In a study carried out with taekwondo fighters, the researchers found that the jury tends to give higher scores to an athlete who wears red than to the same one wearing blue. Specifically, using videos with digital retouching to change the color of clothing, they concluded that for those who wore red garments, the score was 13% higher on average. However, color only influenced the jury if there was no athlete who was clearly superior to their opponents.
Previous studies on the results of the 2004 Olympics already showed that in many sports, but especially in wrestling, wearing red is an advantage and contributes to having a dominant position.
