It seems that only they talk about orange peel; it is considered a feminine problem, and to a large extent it is. This characteristic bulge appears when the collagen fibers break, become flaccid or acquire excessive elasticity, which allows the adipocytes – fat cells – located under the skin tissue to protrude and wrinkle the skin.
Hormones in action
It especially threatens the smoothness of the thighs and buttocks, and is favored by estrogens, female hormones, which stimulate the accumulation of subcutaneous fat. This is why even extremely slim and fit women face cellulite.
In the male gender it is less common, but it can also occur. It is usually one of the setbacks of obese men, with an apple-shaped body and a poor diet, who suffer it predominantly in the waist and abdomen.
