Everything indicates that the antagonist of the film starring Benedict Cumberbatch could be the mighty Shuma-Gorath, who made his debut in the Marvel comics in 1972.
With each new release, the Marvel Universe continues to take the necessary steps into the multiverse, culminating in the sequel to Doctor Strange, aptly titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness .

Until now, it had been revealed that Scarlet Witch, and quite possibly Spider-Man, will be in the movie and, if the rumors are true, they will face an unexpected villain.
Marvel has planned a “multiverse trilogy” consisting of Wandavision ( Scarlet Witch and Vision ), Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange 2 . But until now, the one who could be the great villain of the film starring Benedict Cumberbatch had been kept off the radar of the fans.
According to Daniel Ritchman through his networks, the powerful and evil being known as Shuma-Gorath is ready to be presented in the UCM, and he will be the great villain who has to face the so-called Supreme Sorcerer.

In addition, the journalist also adds that Shuma-Gorath’s plan is to use the powers of América Chávez – who will be played by Xochitl Gómez – to control the multiverse, unleashing the madness that gives the film its title.
In the comics, Chávez is the second woman to use the name Miss America, and she was the first Latin LGTBI superhero to be featured in Marvel cartoons. His powers include superhuman flight, speed and strength, invulnerability, and interdimensional travel.

In general terms, it is a gigantic being with multiple tentacles and an aesthetic that is reminiscent of the monsters of the Lovecraft mythology.

He considers himself an almost invincible being and is the ruler of almost a hundred alternative realities. His powers include energy projection, metamorphosis, teleportation, levitation, and reality altering. He is in essence, practically a god who can do almost anything he wants, and few characters in the Marvel imagination have managed to stop him.

Although at this point the appearance of Shuma-Gorath is nothing more than a rumor, it makes a lot of sense, considering that the monster would be a CGI creation and so far there has been no talk of any casting for the villain of Doctor Strange 2 , which is scheduled to premiere on March 25, 2022.
