Erectile dysfunction, better known as sexual impotence, affects more than 2 million men in Spain . But, despite the fact that various studies have been carried out on its relationship with the consumption of pornographic material, the truth is that the conclusions differ.
An investigation published in 2013 in The Journal of Sexual Medicine and carried out by researchers from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) claimed to have found a cause-effect relationship between the consumption of sexually explicit content and the future sexual behaviors of young people , as one more factor in the possible causes of sexual dysfunction.
The most recent study, also published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine and carried out by the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb (Croatia), suggests that there is no relationship between the consumption of pornography and possible future erection problems .
And it is that many experts agree that the abuse of narcotic substances, leading an unhealthy lifestyle, depression, stress or misinformation are the key factors that lead to the majority of male sexual dysfunctions.
However, other studies have suggested that the exclusive and obsessive use of pornography can cause problems when, for example, controlling ejaculation, the fearsome “trigger” or fear of failure, according to José Bustamante, vice president of the Association. of Specialists in Sexology in his book “What do men think about ?”
The truth is that pornography does not help when it comes to learning and accepting a normalized sexuality ; about what natural and non-fictitious sexual relationships are like and that in no case should be associated with a balance of knowledge as if it were an exam.
