The Seat plant in Martorell has many years of history behind it. However, now, it is taking a further step into the future with a new project by Grupo Sesé. And it is that this factory has just become the first Spanish to receive components through drones. Thanks to the help provided by the Sesé Group, the automotive firm already has a pioneering service that will link the Sesé logistics center in Abrera with the Seat factory using this latest generation technology, which will mean a significant increase in both efficiency as well as the flexibility of the plant.
Both companies have not wanted to wait, so the first official parts supply has already been carried out in Spain between two production centers with the circulation of a drone that, from now on, will supply Seat’s assembly lines with all of them. the elements necessary for the manufacture of your vehicles. This pilot project is carried out under the supervision of the State Agency for Aviation Safety (AESA) and will continue on an experimental basis with several circulations per day.
In this sense, Dr. Christian Vollmer , promoter of this idea at Seat, points out that “today’s flight is the first step to transform the supply chain in the automotive industry. Drone supply will revolutionize logistics since, for example in the case of Seat, it will reduce supply time by 80%. With this innovation, we promote Industry 4.0 and we will be more efficient, agile and competitive and, also, much more sustainable ”. For his part, Ángel Pueyo, CEO of Grupo Sesé, adds that “this project that Seat proposed to us a few months ago is a clear example of our vocation to be at the forefront in innovation and development of processes that can optimize and improve the supply chain. supply of our clients and that positions us in the market as a global and integral logistics operator ”.
