The Volkswagen Passat was released in 1973, that is, just under 47 years ago. In this time, the most successful saloon in the world has undergone all kinds of changes that have improved both its interior and exterior design and its operation, while always keeping its DNA intact. Now, Volkswagen presents an update of the eighth generation of the model, presented in 2014. Thus, the new Passat incorporates the maximum technology in terms of semi-autonomous driving, connectivity and infotainment systems, which offer a permanent connection to the Internet to enjoy the new functions and services on board, thus becoming the most innovative and technological Passat of all generations released to date.
The new Volkswagen Passat immerses itself in semi-autonomous driving . In fact, the new global Volkswagen brand IQ.DRIVE incorporates technologies that go one step further in this direction. The saloon thus becomes the first Volkswagen to use the Travel Assist system, which with a single click allows the vehicle to be driven semi-autonomously at practically any speed, while simultaneously merging assistants such as Lane Assist and predictive ACC. . In this way, the brand is fully committed to the intuitive use and partially automated operation of the technologies it includes.
This Passat also debuts a steering wheel with capacitive sensors , capable of recognizing whether or not the driver raises his hands on the wheel. In addition, the model supports semi-automated driving up to 210 km / h, on the condition that the driver does not release the steering wheel for more than ten seconds. Otherwise, the vehicle understands that there is an emergency and automatically stops the car. In the case of the versions with automatic transmission, you can even stop and restart the gear automatically when the other vehicles around you do so.
