Elvie Pump, the first silent and hands-free cordless breast pump arrives in Spain

The breast pump is of great help for women who breastfeed their babies and have to express their milk when they return to work. With this very special moment in mind, Elvie, the British brand of smart tech products for women, has launched Elvie Pump, the first cordless, hands-free breast pump that is quiet and small enough to fit in your bra .

Breastfeeding is the first option chosen by women after giving birth, both for the nutrients and antibodies it provides to the baby, necessary for optimal growth, development and health, and for the benefits it brings to mothers.

In fact, 80% of Spanish women breastfeed. However, and despite the fact that according to the WHO, breastfeeding is essential during the first six months of life, and should continue in a complementary way up to two years, one in three women stops breastfeeding at three months for social and labor reasons. Specifically, 71% drop out at six weeks, 66% at three months and 47% at six months.

One of the main reasons why women stop breastfeeding is work and coincides with returning to work after maternity leave, and is that many mothers do not have an appropriate place and have to hide in the bathroom to be able to extract milk.

Anytime and anywhere

One of the great advantages of Elvie Pump is that you put it inside your bra and you hardly notice that you are wearing it . Any woman who wishes can express milk whether she is in a meeting, on the way to work, walking the dog, having a coffee or holding her baby. No need to use tubes or cables.

Tania Boler, founder and CEO of Elvie, the company that created the world’s first silent and cordless breast pump, says that, “when it comes to expressing milk, it has been many years since there has been any innovation, mothers they had no alternative . For this reason, they wanted to do something about it by designing the “Elvie Pump to fit seamlessly into today’s women’s lifestyles, in what can be an extremely stressful time, allowing mothers to have flexibility .”

Thanks to its small size (measures 128 x 110 x 68 mm) and its anatomical shape, it fits inside the cup of the bra. It consists of five pieces that are easily disassembled to clean it, and three sizes of funnels to find the one that best suits your chest.

It has seven intensity settings and during extraction, the device automatically switches from Stimulation mode to Extraction mode when it detects segregation and pauses when the bottle is full. One less thing to think about.

It also has a free application to monitor the volume extracted from your mobile in real time, make a history of each breast extraction and control the extraction remotely by adjusting the mode and intensity.

The bowl is made of BPA-free plastic and is dishwasher safe.

Elvie Pump can now be obtained in Spain for 299 euros a single and 559 euros double.

Breastfeeding in children older than one year: breastfeeding from 12 months is not spoiling

The first thing that caused me doubt when writing the post was the title. I have often heard the terms prolonged breastfeeding to refer to children older than 12 months who are still nursing. Or breastfeeding in older children. And yet, I get the impression that these terms refer to something that is not normal, as if breastfeeding had to have a short duration or children beyond the age of 2 years were considered too old to breastfeed.

Breast cancer during breastfeeding: a difficult diagnosis to face

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Spain. So far this year, 35,000 new cases have been diagnosed in our country according to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), and it is estimated that one in eight women will have breast cancer at some point in her life. However, it has a high survival rate: more than 90 percent overcome it or it becomes chronic, achieving a great quality of life.

My baby is very distracted while breastfeeding: why it happens and how to get...

During the first weeks of life, breastfed babies often only want to be at their mother's breast. The shots are long (practically one with another), the baby's movements are slow and calm, and the exchange of glances between mother and child is constant.

Mixed breastfeeding in twins: how to organize to feed two babies

The WHO recommends that babies under six months be exclusively breastfed. Mothers who have twins or fraternal twins are capable of producing milk for both of them, since we know that the greater the stimulation, the greater the production of milk; women in these cases can produce... up to 2 liters of milk a day!

Does your baby "tune in" to the nipple while nursing? Why does it do...

Does your baby play and touch the nipple that is free while he is sucking on the other one? This is a behavior popularly known as "tuning" (the child moves the nipple as if tuning a radio), and although it is completely normal and natural, it can be uncomfortable for some mothers.
