The Royal Spanish Football Federation has issued an official statement in which it has announced that Rodrigo Moreno, Pablo Fornals, Carlos Soler and Brais Méndez have been called by Luis Enrique . These footballers will train individually with the National Team and one of them would be chosen if the Asturian coach decided to dispense with Sergio Busquets after his positive for coronavirus.
The footballers will join the National Team’s concentration in Las Rozas as soon as possible, although they will remain “outside the bubble.” They will stay outside the facilities and go to train every day, so none of them are officially summoned for the Eurocup . Everything will depend on the decision made with Sergio Busquets , who tested positive for coronavirus.
If Luis Enrique prefers to wait for the captain of the National Team , none of the four mentioned will enter. In the event that Sergio Busquets is not expected, the Asturian would have to choose only one between Rodrigo Moreno, Pablo Fornals, Brais Méndez or Carlos Soler.
Federation statement
«In anticipation of the possible consequences that the positive Sergio Busquets could bring, the coaching staff has decided to incorporate a group of footballers to complete the training sessions over the next few days under Luis Enrique’s orders within a parallel bubble.
In this sense, tomorrow the players Rodrigo Moreno (Leeds United), Pablo Fornals (West Ham United), Carlos Soler (Valencia CF) and Brais Méndez (RC Celta) will join the sessions in Las Rozas. In addition, once the game against Lithuania is over, a small group of footballers yet to be confirmed will join the training sessions of the senior team under the same conditions as the previous ones. They will train at different times and will not mix in any case with the summoned.
The players invited to the training sessions will remain outside the Ciudad del Fútbol bubble and will go daily to Las Rozas after having passed the relevant daily tests before their arrival and during their stay. Its definitive incorporation to the Euro 2020 list will be evaluated based on the results obtained in the coming days.
