Excavator driver discovers dead baby in the shovel

An excavator driver made a terrible find in Baden-Württemberg. At first the man thought there was a doll in his shovel.

Schelklingen – An excavator driver found the body of a newborn baby in his excavator shovel in Baden-Württemberg. As the public prosecutor and the police announced, he made the find in Schelklingen (Alb-Donau district) on Friday morning.

At first the man who was supposed to level the earth on a piece of land thought of a doll. When he saw that it was a child’s body, he called the police.

The criminal police started the investigation and secured the traces. According to previous knowledge, it is the corpse of an apparently newborn girl. It was autopsied on Friday. Investigators assume that the body was buried. The newborn could therefore have been deposited there in the last few days, weeks or even months.

An investigation team is supposed to clarify the background. In particular, the investigators want to know who knows a woman who was heavily pregnant and whose baby was not seen. A person is also wanted who was in the vicinity of the site with a plastic bag. dpa
