Faria County Beach Camp

Faria County Beach is a great place to camp, right by the ocean.

This little campground has campsites around the edges. There is a beach that is quite wide at low tide. It is across the street from an active railroad. You can expect multiple trains to pass by every day. It’s distracting, but most visitors think that the sound of the ocean 24 hours a day outweighs the temporary noise of the train.

Faria Beach Campground is one of the best oceanfront campsites in California. You get tons of highly rated reviews online.

In fact, one of the only downsides to the park is that you can’t reserve in advance, and you have to arrive very early to get a spot. It is almost impossible during busy times of the year. If you want to make sure you have a spot when you hit the beach, try one of these other Ventura County beach camps.

What facilities are there at Faria County Beach?

The campground at Faria County Beach is paved, with restrooms, showers, and WiFi. It has 42 sites, 15 of them with water, sewage, 50/30/20 amp electrical connections and cable TV. It also has some tent sites.

There is a food stand on Faria Beach. The campsites have access to fire pits and picnic tables.

Besides enjoying the beach and the ocean, you can go surfing or fishing.

What you need to know before going to the beach in Faria County

  • All campsites are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. They do not accept reservations.
  • Check camping rates on their website
  • Up to 6 people can stay in each camp. The ticket price includes 3 “items” per camp. By items, they mean vehicles and things you can sleep in. They are defined as tents, RVs, and cars or other vehicles. After the 3 items included, additional vehicles pay their own rates.
  • Dogs are not allowed on Faria Beach for day use (except guide dogs). However, they can be at the campground (with a small fee per dog) but must be on a maximum leash of 6 feet.
  • The camp has quiet hours at night, when you can’t use your generator.
  • Squirrels make their homes on the rocks around the camp. They think that campsites are a great place to get a bite to eat and will crawl into your food unless you take precautions. An easy way to do this is to keep it in your car.
  • You will be so close to the ocean that everything will be covered with salt water. Put things away if you don’t want them to get wet.
  • Site # 7 looks great at low tide, but it has a downside. When the tide is high, people tend to walk through their camp to surround the water.
  • Visitors who go there often say that the best time to get a spot is to arrive early on a Sunday or Monday between November and May.
  • All RV sites are back-only (apparently in case the campground needs to be evacuated quickly) and some folks with larger RVs say they are a bit cramped.
