Half a year ago, the violent death of four defenseless residents of a disabled dormitory shocked the whole of Germany. Now a nurse has to answer for murder in court.
Potsdam – A nurse from the diaconal facility Oberlinhaus in Potsdam has to answer for the murder and attempted murder of residents of a dormitory for people with disabilities.
According to the indictment, the 52-year-old allegedly attacked five defenseless residents between the ages of 31 and 56 with a knife at the end of April and killed four of them. A 43 year old woman survived after emergency surgery. Before the knife attacks, the woman is said to have tried to strangle two of the victims.
According to a psychiatric report, the public prosecutor’s office assumes that the nurse committed the offenses in a state of significantly reduced culpability. She has been placed in the forensic department of a psychiatric hospital immediately after the crime was arrested.
At the start of the trial, the indictment should first be read out. Then the defendant has the opportunity to comment on herself and the allegations. It is not yet clear whether the 52-year-old will testify on the first day of the trial, said her defense attorney Henry Timm on request. “That depends on your daily form,” he said. Basically, the 52-year-old is ready to at least comment on her person.
According to the court, three police officers have already been summoned as witnesses on the first day of the trial. Ten days of negotiations are scheduled for the process until December 9th. A total of 41 witnesses are to be heard. dpa
