Fight dragons or survive a zombie apocalypse: Twine 2 lets you create your own interactive HTML adventure

I have to admit that creativity is not my thing. Every time I try to build a large building in Minecraft, I end up messing it up in some way. However, I think that putting letters together is much better than a building that no architect would approve.

In addition, the love of reading has always been an essential passion in my life. One of the peculiarities that I remember the most is having read stories like that cartoon of the Petisos Carambanales and Superlópez , in which you could choose the direction of the adventure of Jan’s character.

Now, with the arrival of technology facilities and from the comfort of your home, you can replicate those stories. Thanks to Genbeta colleagues, we have been able to take a look at Twine 2, an open source editor that allows us to create our own interactive adventure.

Available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, everything we develop will be based on HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. While the application can be downloaded for the device you are using, it can be used entirely online.

Through different boxes, we can develop our imaginary world. First, you will have to give the story a name, and then begin to place these boxes. In each of them we will have to write our history, as long or short as we want.

From that moment on, it will be necessary to include links within the text for the different decisions that we grant to the player. Once we are satisfied with the result, we press play and we will see the result of our literary arts.

The best thing is that if you have enough skill, you can decorate everything in a very cool way. Images, videos and audios with HTML tags can be inserted. There is also the possibility of using macros, random number generators and thus create really varied routes and with unexpected repercussions .
