Firenzecard pass for priority entry and savings in Florence

When planning a trip to Florence, Italy, and anticipating visiting several museums and monuments, consider purchasing the Firenzecard, a pass that allows the buyer to enter 76 of the city’s most important museums, monuments and gardens; access to priority entry lines; and unlimited use of the city’s public transport. The pass is valid for 72 hours from the moment of its first use and costs 85 euros.

The value of a Firenzecard

Buying a Firenzecard could save you time and money depending on how many places you visit. Because it’s prepaid, you won’t have to wait in long lines, book in advance, or buy each ticket separately each time you want to enter a museum or monument.

Also included is admission to many outstanding special exhibits throughout the year. This means that if you want to see one of these exhibits for a limited time, you will not pay any additional charges.

Some of the monuments and museums on the pass are already free, but the pass gives you access to priority entry lines. On very popular sites with huge traffic, this feature alone could be worth the price of the card.

The card allows free entry for those under 18 who are members of the same family as the holder of the Firenzecard.

Buy and collect a Firenzecard

You can check current prices and buy the card online on the Firenzecard website, at one of the participating museums or at a tourist information point in the city. If you buy the card online, check the website for the collection points where you can pick it up.

You can also download the Firenzecard app on your smartphone, enter your coupon code and get the digital Firenzecard.

Using a Firenzecard

When you receive the card, write your name immediately. At the entrance of a museum or monument, look for the Firenzecard sign and show your pass there for admission. On a bus, swipe the card against the validation machine inside the bus as soon as you board.

To use the entrance card to Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Dome of the Duomo, the Baptistery and the Crypt of Santa Reparata (co-patron of Florence and namesake of the ancient Florence Cathedral), go to the ticket office dedicated to Firenzecard in the Center of Art and Culture of the Opera del Duomo (OPA), in Piazza San Giovanni 7, to collect the free ticket that you will use at the turnstiles when you enter these monuments.

The card becomes “valid” the first time you use it, and will remain valid for 72 hours; You have one month from purchase to validate the card, in other words, to start using it. Each cardholder is allowed one admission to each of the participating venues.

Where can you go with the card

Some of the favorite places to visit in Florence are:

  • Uffizi Gallery
  • Academy Gallery
  • Bargello National Museum
  • Palazzo Vecchio
  • Duomo Dome and Crypt
  • Bell Tower and Baptistery
  • San Marco Monastery Museum
