First trailer for "Tick tick Boom": Andrew Garfield in a dark version of "La la land"

Andrew Garfield may not be called to be a spider-man in the MCU multiverse, but he shouldn’t care much, with the number of projects he has on his schedule. We recently discovered the first images of his transformation with Jessica Chanstain in The Eyes of Tammy Faye and her character in Mainstream , the story directed by Gia Coppola that made him a deranged influencer . As if these previews weren’t enough, the trailer for Tick tick Boom, an adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is now available.

Miranda has already conquered the Broadway scene thanks to productions such as Hamilton and In the Heights , as well as showing some talent for acting in The Return of Mery Poppins . But the New Yorker is so versatile that he has also composed the music of Moana and has been a producer of In the Alturas . The only thing that could be left is the field of management, a department that he has led in his debut with Tick tick Boom.

Jonathan Larson created the musical as a soloist in the early 90s, before David Auburn wrote his version for off-Broadway (small stage theaters that serve to discover more independent productions) when Larson himself died.

The official synopsis of Tick tick Boom tells the story of Jon (Andrew Garfield), a theater composer who writes what he thinks will be the next great American musical, while trying to make a living as a waiter in 1990’s New York. A few hours from showing his work in a performance decisive, Jon feels a maximum pressure from all the people around him such as Michael, his best friend and Susan, his girlfriend. All under the context in which the artistic community is devastated by AIDS. Like all artists in precarious conditions, he will come to ask himself the definitive question , what do you want to do with the time you have?

Tick tick Boom will be released in theaters and on the Netflix platform in the fall , honoring itself the 25th anniversary of Larson’s death and the Broadway premiere of Rent .
