Ford Kuga PHEV: go meet him at Casa Decor

The Casa Decor event had to close on March 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Months later, it reopened its doors on June 8 and did so accompanied by the new Ford Kuga PHEV, the plug-in hybrid variant of the compact SUV. The oval signature is the sponsor and official car of the 55th edition of Casa Decor , the annual meeting of design and interior design in Spain. It is the reference exhibition in our country and, this time, it takes place in a palace house located on Calle Velázquez 21 (Madrid). Its structure, from the 20th century, combines perfectly with the sophisticated and sporty line of the new Ford Kuga, a model that has matured and shows its most elegant side.

The new normal allows us to look to the future, as have the organizers of this event and Ford. Electrification is part of the future of our mobility, especially in Europe. For this reason, the model on display is a unit of the new Kuga Plug-in Hybrid, the plug-in hybrid version that is manufactured at the firm’s plant in Almussafes (Valencia). This technology offers certain advantages for urban use, starting with the 56 kilometers of 100% electric circulation (WLTP cycle). More than enough data to get the long-awaited label 0 of the DGT.

A room for him

The prestigious architect Manuel Espejo has been commissioned to create a unique space for this Ford Kuga PHEV. Every creator has his own essence and that of Espejo is to create harmonious and functional spaces that fit in with the personality of the main element of the room. His presence at Casa Decor is assured and he has worked with international firms such as Ford, Jacob Delafon, Te Art Of Living Frigicoll or Hager. Among his other projects we find the leisure area of the Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande (2015 and 2016).

This architect has chosen the carriage pass to place the new Kuga but has given it his own touch. Espejo has turned the space into a tunnel of reflections through an impressive structure, created exclusively for this event, which plays with light and the optical effect . Manuel Espejo encourages us to “visit the exhibition, which will be enjoyed in a wonderful way, and to visit the space ‘Bringing Tomorrow’, which I have designed for Ford and the new Ford Kuga”.

Ford Kuga PHEV

The new Ford Kuga has grown in all its dimensions, with final measurements of: 4.61 meters long by 1.88 wide and 1.67 high, with a wheelbase of 2.71 meters. Its trunk capacity is 581 liters and it can reach 1,481 if we recline the row of seats. The plug-in hybrid variant (PHEV) is available with the Titanium finish and a price starting at 34,260 euros .

With the electric battery in full power, as a support of the 2.5-liter gasoline block and 224 CV of combined power, a consumption of only 1.4 l / 100 km can be achieved. The charging time in a domestic socket is less than six hours, a figure provided by the firm. You can control the use of electrical energy through the driving modes: EV Auto, EV Now, EV Later and EV Charge. The first one will be in charge of combining both engines for further optimization. The EV Now will only use the electric motor and in the EV later option the thermoblock will be prioritized. The EV Charge will use the gasoline booster to charge the battery , a decision that will increase consumption but will allow you to have electricity later on.
