In the final dance with his dance partner Renata Lusin, "the most beautiful footballer in the world" portrayed himself as Thor the god of thunder – and thus won the most votes from the audience.
Cologne (dpa) – An Icelander melts the floor: The former professional soccer player Rúrik Gíslason has won the RTL dance show "Let's Dance" with brilliant performances.
The 33-year-old ex-kicker, who played for 1. FC Nürnberg in Germany, among others, secured victory in the 14th season of the show with his dance partner Renata Lusin. In his final dance, the Icelander, who is also called "the most beautiful footballer in the world", presented himself as Thor, the hammer-wielding god of thunder. Judge Joachim Llambi called this a “worthy fireworks display”.
In the end, however, the votes of the audience were decisive. According to jury points, the actress Valentina Pahde (26) was initially in the lead. But Gíslason got so many audience votes that he was able to overtake the "good times, bad times" actress. He is the successor to the circus artist Lili Paul-Roncalli, who won last year.
