Formula 1 classification: race of the Styrian GP and F1 world championship 2021

Max Verstappen won the Styrian Grand Prix and remains at the top of the Formula 1 World Championship standings. The Dutchman is already 18 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton , who finished the race in Austria behind him. Both were accompanied by the other Mercedes driver, Valtteri Bottas .

Despite this, Red Bull also remains at the top of the Constructors’ World Championship standings with a 40-point lead over Mercedes . The Formula 1 Styrian Grand Prix has allowed Ferrari to cut points from McLaren in this classification and is only 12 points behind .

If this has been the case, it has been thanks to the spectacular comeback of Carlos Sainz , who started the Formula 1 Styrian Grand Prix in twelfth position and finished sixth. The Madrid native finished ahead of his teammate Leclerc, who was seventh after another spectacular comeback.

If Ferrari could not overtake McLaren it was because Lando Norris finished fifth behind Sergio Pérez . His teammate, Daniel Ricciardo , has been out of the points zone. The same has happened in Alpine. Although Fernando Alonso has returned to add points for his team thanks to the eighth position he has garnered in the Formula 1 Styrian Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon could not do more than be fourteenth. The French team thus remains seventh in the classification of the Constructors’ World Cup.
