Formula 1 qualification: United States GP race and F1 world championship 2021

Max Verstappen leads the Formula 1 World Championship with a 12-point advantage over Lewis Hamilton after his victory in the United States GP . Despite the fact that the Mercedes driver overtook the Red Bull driver at the start, the Austrian team got the strategy right by stopping earlier, allowing the Dutchman to regain his position. While Hamilton, on cooler tires, got into the DRS zone with Verstappen on the final lap, he didn’t have time to launch an attack on Verstappen. Sergio Pérez accompanied both of them on the podium. Lewis Hamilton , meanwhile, saved a point thanks to his fastest lap in Austin.

The United States GP has allowed Ferrari to cut points from McLaren in the fight that both teams have for the Constructors’ World Cup. Charles Leclerc was fourth and Carlos Sainz seventh after losing sixth position on the last lap to Valtteri Bottas . Daniel Ricciardo , meanwhile, was fifth and Lando Norris eighth. With these results McLaren remains third in the standings although with only 3.5 points of advantage over Ferrari in the World Championship.

Yuki Tsunoda and Sebastian Vettel completed the point zone. The German faced the United States GP from the eighteenth position and Fernando Alonso did it from the nineteenth. However, the Spaniard was forced to drop out at Austin with four laps to go due to a problem with his rear wing. Esteban Ocon had done it before, thus culminating a black day for Alpine. Even so, the French team remains fifth in the Constructors’ World Cup standings with a 10-point advantage over AlphaTauri .
