Formula 1: Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz accepted vaccination offer from Bahrain

Formula 1 drivers Sergio Perez (Red Bull) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) have accepted the vaccination offer from the Kingdom of Bahrain. “I took the opportunity because I don’t know when I’ll get the chance at home in Mexico,” said Red Bull access Perez on Friday at a press conference as part of the official test drives in the desert state.

Bahrain had made the entire Formula 1 entourage the offer to protect themselves against the corona virus free of charge with the vaccine from Biontech-Pfizer. The prerequisite was that you come to the country before the test drives and only leave after the first race of the season on March 28th.

The Formula 1 leadership had rejected the offer. The new premier class boss Stefano Domenicali said: “The priority is with the weakest. We do not want to precede the vaccination.”

The teams and their members are free to make a decision, as is media representatives, for example.
