Franklyn D. Resort and Spa

Looking for an all-inclusive Jamaican beach resort that really caters to families with young children? Franklyn D. Resort & Spa is an intimate-sized all-inclusive Caribbean property with spacious suites in the style of an elegant Jamaican home. The small size of the complex (there are 78 suites in total) can be a big plus when you have younger children, as it is always within walking distance of the pool, restaurant or children’s center.

Franklyn D. Resort and Spa

While many family resorts in the Caribbean offer great kids’ programs, clubs, and non-stop activities, Franklyn D. Resort offers something unbeatable for families with infants and toddlers – your own unique vacation babysitter. For more than seven hours a day, your babysitter is available to watch your children and be your personal guide around the resort. She will take care of your suite, be your resort guide, and you can also hire her to take care of the girl at night for a nominal fee.

The all-inclusive price also includes three meals a day and accommodations in one- to three-room suites that are considerably larger than those found at most all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. Our huge suite featured a full kitchen, dining room, spacious living room with TV and French doors, large master bedroom plus a children’s bedroom with two twin beds, and two bathrooms. The largest three-bedroom suites sleep six adults and three children. Rollaway beds, cribs, bed rails and child gates can be requested at no additional charge.

Your refrigerator and pantry will be stocked with snacks and beverages that you can request to be replenished at no cost throughout your stay.

FDR does not have an expansive beach where you can stroll for miles along the sand. However, the resort offers two small coves, which are good places for families to swim in safe and protected waters. Much of the beach is taken up by a watersports area, a waterslide, and a restaurant on the boardwalk. Still, there is an area for loungers and beach games. Additionally, guests are encouraged to walk a few steps outside the property to a beautiful, peaceful beach where children can snorkel with goldfish.

Despite its smaller size, Franklyn D.

Resort offers almost everything you would find in larger properties. While the vacation babysitters are the standout feature that sets this resort apart from the rest, other features include a spa, an adults-only restaurant on the beach, and an on-site dive center. The supervised children’s center is open day and night and has a baby area, arts and crafts area, movies, and computer games.

Here is a list of some of the highlights:

  • each family has their own babysitter on vacation during their stay
  • kids club, entertainment, games
  • Watersports
  • frequent promotions
  • a main pool, a small kiddy slide nearby, and a 100-foot waterslide near the beach
  • A daily list of activities can announce fitness classes, bike rides, a poolside magician show, family bingo, scavenger hunts and more
  • Bike rides
  • games room, with table football, air hockey and pool tables.

Location

FDR is located in Runaway Bay, on the north coast of Jamaica, near Ocho Rios. It is about 45 miles from the Montego Bay airport.

The area is known for the Green Grotto Caves, the largest and most accessible caves on the island. The two caves open to the public are estimated to be approximately half a million years old. Along with the stalagmites and stalactites, there is a fascinating little underground lake in the innermost cavern. In addition to the caves, some of the best beaches in the Caribbean can be found at Runaway Bay, protected by a large tropical coral reef.
