Getaways to Club Med with Young Adult Children

Parenting doesn’t end when a child turns 18 and goes off to college or embarks on a new life after high school. Family vacations also evolve through many stages, and some resorts are well positioned to cater for all of them.

Not only do Club Med resorts offer great programs for kids up to 17 years old, but they are also for vacations with young adult children ages 18-20.

For families who like the ease of an all-inclusive resort, Club Med may be a good option. It’s a premium brand with a wide range of activities for adults of all ages, along with great restaurants and spacious family suites. In addition, the atmosphere at Club Med has great appeal for both seniors in their 20s.

Club Med with young adult children

Club Med’s unique social structure makes it the best choice for vacations with young adults, who will find the laid-back, outgoing atmosphere a lot of fun. The focus on learning new activities and the inclusive nature of the evening entertainment means that your son or daughter will likely become familiar with other guests.

Activities and things to do

While many all-inclusive resorts offer Hobie-cat sailing, windsurfing, and other instructions, Club Med takes things to another level. It’s all about learning at Club Med, and every day you can find scheduled classes in sailing, tennis, windsurfing and other activities. It is a great environment to learn a new sport or skill. The circus school and the flying trapeze are hallmarks of Club Med resorts. Guests of all ages are encouraged to try it out at least once.

Most all-inclusive resorts offer nightly entertainment, but Club Med does things its way. A Club Med complex generally has a fully equipped theater with a stage, seating, and lighting. Most nights, the staff puts on a show and encourages audience participation.

Overall, Club Med resorts are a great bet for a resort-style vacation with young adult children. Families with young adult children have a wider range of options than families with younger children. They can choose between family resorts with programs for children such as Club Med Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic; Club Med Cancun Yucatan and Club Med Ixtapa Pacific in Mexico; and Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Florida. They may also consider a number of Club Meds that require guests to be 16 or older. In Turks and Caicos, Club Med Turquoise has a minimum age of 18 years.

A note on the legal drinking age

Keep in mind that the legal drinking age is 18 in Mexico and most Caribbean countries, not 21 like in the United States. As a young adult, your child will receive an adult wristband that allows you to order alcoholic beverages at the resort. In the evening, it is common to find a number of young adult guests at the bar. It is probably wise to have a discussion before your vacation if you want your son or daughter to adhere to the US drinking age of 21, or to practice moderation while on vacation.
