Poseidon is the name of the Greece-based meteorological system operated by the Hellenic Center for Marine Research and its Institute of Oceanography.
Weather information for Greece is produced by a series of hundreds of weather buoys in Greek waters.
While it is primarily intended for those traveling by water, it also provides a wealth of useful information for other travels, including where it rains or will rain, where Africa’s dust clouds flow, and what the winds may be. expected to do. Greeks pay close attention to predictions, and ferry captains and fishermen consider them to be very accurate.

The Poseidon weather system also works on Android phones. Version 4.0 was released in February 2015. It can be downloaded as a free app from the Google Store. As of summer 2017, this is the only version of the system available for your phone.
How to use the Poseidon website
Most travelers will want to select Weather Forecast at the bottom of the left navigation bar. This will open a page with a multi-colored weather map of Greece.
On the left side, there is a small white box with rows of numbers, showing the date and time in UTC. The date is given in European fashion, with the first day and the second month, which can cause some confusion in the months with fewer numbers. This box allows you to select a forecast in six hour increments. For most people, the weather in the middle of the night is not as important as the weather during the day. Time is given in UTC, or Coordinated Universal Time, the “master clock” used in shipping and aviation.
This is the same as International Atomic Time, and is based on a 24-hour clock, so 6pm would be 6pm.
In Greece, the “real time” during daylight saving time is UTC +2, so 18:00 would refer to 8 pm
Once you have decided the time period for which you want the Greek weather forecast, select the “Parameter” in the box above. You can choose to view a map that reflects surface wind conditions, rain, snowfall, wave height, rain, cloud cover, air temperature, dust load, fog, and atmospheric pressure.
Once you have selected the desired weather and wind condition or other category, press the “Display” box and the color image will change to reflect your choices.
If you are traveling by sea, you can also select the “Wave Forecast” for the Greece model in the left navigation bar on the main page. This will give you wave predictions broken down in three hour increments.
