Hollywood and practically the entire entertainment industry lives in a constant remake. Updating the blockbusters to suit a new generation of audiences is essential to maintaining franchises and sagas. Somehow the cultural heritage moves the creators to imagine stories and archetypes that have already been seen before. But in some cases, the similarity (although in another context) is so blatant that it seems inevitable not to realize that there are films that tell exactly the same thing. “They call him Bodhi” and “Full throttle” “Full throttle” (left ) and “They call him Bodhi” (right) Yes, if you trade the surfers in this movie for the tuning criminals you get exactly the same plot. An undercover police officer (Keanu Reeves in the first and Paul Walker in the second) infiltrates apparently legal organizations that are led by two criminals who organize robberies in the shadows. In the surf band we talk about Patrick Swaze while the nitrous oxide racer is Toretto, played by Vin Diesel. Up to now everything could be saved, if it were not for the fact that both policemen begin to feel a deep friendship for the criminals, to the point of not stopping them at the key moment of both feature films. “Pocahontas” and “Avatar” “Pocahontas” and “Avatar” Unos settlers go to a land that is not theirs to drive out its native inhabitants and keep its energy sources and ecosystems. Pocahontas and Avatar are films that tell exactly the same thing, only one of them does it under the sweetened animation of Disney and the other through the cutting-edge technology of James Cameron. As if this were not enough, both protagonists fall in love being on different sides, which leads to a naturalistic anti-war discourse in which love is the engine to stop the two conflicts. Avatar disguised him as a disabled soldier who got into the body of one of the aliens, but you’re not fooling anyone Cameron. “While you sleep” and “The perfect victim” “While you sleep” and “The perfect victim” This one in a case very curious because both films were released weeks apart. While You Sleep is based on the novel of the same name, but the American film The Perfect Victim has a supposed “original script”. The two narrate the obsession of a character who lives in the same building and who watches over and abuses a woman even when she is unaware of his presence. In essence, these are two films that tell exactly the same thing: “Origin and Paprika” “Paprika” and “Origin” The truth is that Christopher Nolan could have mentioned this animated film in the credits of Origin. Darren Aronofski at least bought the rights to Dark Blue to copy the bathroom scene he shot in Requiem for a Dream. In both stories the characters enter people’s dreams to alter their consciousness and discover information. They are not exactly the same story, but the original concept is identical.
