It’s finally getting warm in Germany: A high at the beginning of the week brings lots of sun and rising temperatures.
Offenbach (dpa) – May brings Germany farewell sun and early summer temperatures of up to 23 degrees.
“Hoch Waltraud is a loyal soul and ensures increasingly summery weather,” said meteorologist Jacqueline Kernn from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Sunday in Offenbach. For meteorologists, summer begins on June 1st, i.e. Tuesday. They want to present a balance sheet for spring 2021 this Monday.
By the middle of the week, Waltraud loses influence again. “Conclusion: The direction is right, but there are always dampers,” said Kernn with a view to the next seven days. The new week starts with sunny and dry weather. Temperatures rise to 17 to 23 degrees. However: “In the nights the lack of cloud cover makes for strong cooling, in the southeast there is a risk of frost near the ground.”
The meteorologists also warn: “Since the sun has only had brief guest appearances in the last few weeks, caution is advised when staying outdoors.” “It is advisable to use suitable protective measures such as sun hats, sunglasses and sunscreen,” emphasized Kernn.
Cold air from the Baltic region is approaching as early as Tuesday. It brings more clouds in the northeast and east – and only a maximum of 18 degrees in the northeast. Showers and thunderstorms are also possible between the Baltic Sea and the Ore Mountains. “In the rest of Germany it is again mostly sunny and dry on Tuesday with around 26 degrees in the west.”
Split weather also on Wednesday: Over the northeast half denser clouds, showers and thunderstorms – in the southwest half the sun is still in charge, the maximum values reach 17 to 26 degrees.
