How to change the voice of the Google Voice Assistant

If you have an Android mobile phone, it is quite likely that you use the Google Voice Assistant several times a day, something even more common when you also have a compatible smart speaker .

And if you have been using it for a while, it is equally possible that you have already gotten used to the voice used by the different Google devices, which today is characterized by being as traditional as it is iconic.

Interestingly, when you get tired of the Assistant’s voice, you don’t have to switch devices and opt for a competitor (like Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri). All you have to do is choose from a dozen variations, giving you the ability to customize the voice to your liking.

In fact, you can choose a specific Google Assistant voice from the Google Home app on your Android device, and once the change is applied, it will apply to absolutely all Google devices that you use under the same account. How to do it? It’s actually very simple.

Changing the voice of the Google Voice Assistant

On our Android phone or iPhone we start the Google Home application that we will find on the home screen of the device. Then, we click on our profile image in the upper right part of the screen.

A pop-up window will appear with different options. We must touch Assistant Settings , and then click on Voice Assistant . In case of not finding this option (which will depend on the version of Android that we are using), we must touch the See more tab, which will expand all the options.

On the new Voice Assistant page, we must slide our finger to hear each of the different voice options that are presented. Indeed, each circle represents a different voice.

Once you have selected the voice that you like the most, to choose it you just have to press and hold it and touch the Back button, which you will find in the upper left part of the page. The selection will be saved automatically.

Remember that this change will be applied to all Google devices that have the Voice Assistant, which means that, if you access them through the account in which you made the change, immediately that voice will also appear in all other devices. This includes not only the smart speaker or the Android mobile phone, but also other items such as the smart screen in our home.
