During the celebration of the Samsung Unpacked 2021 event last August, Samsung announced together with WhatsApp the possibility of transferring the chats of the messaging platform from an iPhone to one of the smartphones of the Korean group. But now the news goes further since the famous messaging application will allow us to pass any chat or conversation from any Android device to an iOS one and vice versa .
This is how WhatsApp lets us move conversations from Android to iOS and vice versa
The news that Samsung revealed at its event was highly anticipated by iOS users who in this way will be able to decide to switch to another type of smartphone without necessarily having to say goodbye to old chats with friends, family and other contacts, but now the function is on. everything complete since we can do the opposite. Thus, the owners of an Android phone will be able to transfer WhatsApp conversations to a phone produced by Apple.
The arrival of the new function is not exactly a surprise, also because it would not have been very logical to favor the passage of chats from iPhone to Android phones and not the other way around. However, the availability will not be immediate: if transfers in one direction have already been announced and activated in preview for Samsung phones, the movement of chats in the opposite direction has for the moment only been intercepted in one of the preview versions of the latest application update tested by the managers of the WABetaInfo portal. They have been the ones who have made this screenshot in which we can see how WhatsApp lets us move our chats from Android to iOS but there is no specific date when the function will be launched definitively.
WhatsApp is finally developing a feature to migrate your chat history from Android to iOS, for a future update!
It shouldn’t be restricted to some Samsung mobile devices, but more details will be published here soon. pic.twitter.com/KvRejvrwh7— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) September 8, 2021
How the transfer works
What can be seen from the information leaked so far is that the transfer of chats from Android phones to iPhone will follow very similar steps as the reverse operation. The recipient’s iPhone must have been set to factory settings, the account phone number must remain the same, and a Lightning-USB-C connection cable must be used that physically connects the two phones for data transfer. The last fundamental piece of the operation, WABetaInfo always advises, will be the Switch to iOS application, or the software created by Apple to transfer contacts, messages and settings from an Android phone to one of its iPhones.
